The Herps of Texas website is a project of the Herpetology Division of the Biodiversity Center of the University of Texas.
It started in 199X, and the first webmaster was Lori Bockstanz, who coded the entire site by hand in static html. After several years the site was migrated to Drupal, but this proved difficult to maintain. In 2020 we migrated the content to the static website generator Hugo, using a modified Academic theme.
